I haven't updated on the progress of the Mary Anning play for some time but that doesn't mean that things haven't been happening. This has now developed into two distinct projects: one for schools which will be available this autumn and a fully developed adult version available for 2012. The schools play will be a one woman character piece performed by Jane McKell of AsOne Theatre Co and will be called "Mary Anning's Fossil Depot" and will show Mary looking back on the highs and lows of her life just as she received official recognition for her work and nearly at her death. It will be part of an interactive learning day for schools where children will have the opportunity to learn about the discoveries Mary made in some depth.
The second project is called "The Cabinet makers Daughter" and will look at Mary's life in greater detail and will feature some songs and multimedia inserts.
